BROWARD COUNTY · LICENSED FLORIDA SECURITY AGENCY

On the Broadwalk, Hollywood security guards walk

Security guard services in Hollywood cover three different jobs inside one boundary. The beach and the 2.5-mile Broadwalk have no road on them, so an officer walks and the vehicle rate does not apply. Downtown and the west side are ordinary vehicle country. Almond Tree Security Services staffs all three, armed or unarmed.

ONE CITY, THREE JOBS

Beach & Broadwalk

2.5 miles of brick promenade. No vehicle goes down it, so no vehicle rate applies.

Downtown

Street-facing retail, offices and bars on a normal grid, reachable by vehicle.

West side

Most of the 30.8 square miles. Residential, schools, plazas and building sites.

THIRD LARGEST CITY IN BROWARD

Three cities inside one boundary

Hollywood is 30.8 square miles, about 153,000 people, and the third-largest city in Broward County. It is also three security markets that behave nothing like each other, and security guard services in Hollywood have to cover all three.

The beach and the Broadwalk

The Broadwalk is a 2.5-mile, 30-foot-wide brick promenade along Hollywood Beach, named a Great Place by the American Planning Association in 2013. Restaurants, bars and the Hollywood Beach Theater open directly onto it. No vehicle goes down it.

Downtown and the blocks behind it

Street-facing retail, offices and bars on a normal grid. Ordinary commercial work: closing checks, access control, overnight cover, and a vehicle that can actually reach the door.

The west side

Most of those thirty square miles. Residential streets, schools, plazas and building sites, inland and unremarkable, and it is where a patrol route makes more sense than a post.

NO ROAD ON IT

What a promenade with no road actually changes

Three things, and the first one is money. This is where security guard services in Hollywood stop resembling anywhere else on this site.

No vehicle means no vehicle rate

Our rate card bills a vehicle separately, at $10.00 parked or $14.00 on patrol. On the Broadwalk neither line applies, because the vehicle cannot get there. A beachfront bar pays for the officer and nothing else. That makes a walking post on the beach one of the cheaper things on this page, which is the opposite of what most operators expect.

Deliveries arrive from behind

A venue facing the promenade takes its stock from the street side, through a back door, on a different schedule from its customers. That is two entrances on opposite sides with different risks, and a single officer standing at the front has their back to the one that matters at 7am.

Closing time empties onto a footpath

When a bar closes on a normal street, people disperse to cars. On the Broadwalk they disperse onto a pedestrian promenade shared with everybody else still out. Managing that is a conversation and a presence, not a barrier, and it is the part of the night a venue most often gets wrong.

A venue post is a walking post. Unarmed Class D is the usual choice on a door.

OFF THE SAND

Where a patrol vehicle does earn its keep

Off the sand, Hollywood is ordinary vehicle country, and most of the city is off the sand. Security guard services in Hollywood look completely conventional once you leave the beach.

The west side and the blocks behind downtown are where a mobile patrol route beats a standing post: several addresses on one run, irregular timing, a logged check at each. At $44.00 an hour on a multi-day contract the officer and the vehicle come together, which for a manager with three or four sites is cheaper than posting any one of them.

Construction is steady across a city this size, and construction site security here is the usual overnight and weekend cover for plant and copper.

RATES, STATED PLAINLY

A night on the Broadwalk, priced

An unarmed Class D officer is $32.00 an hour and an armed Class G officer is $40.00 an hour, with a six-hour minimum. Security guard services in Hollywood are priced by the hour.

Unarmed officer, Class D

$32.00 / hour

Armed officer, Class G

$40.00 / hour

Vehicle, parked on site

$10.00 / hour

Vehicle, engine running or on patrol

$14.00 / hour

Mobile patrol, multi-day contract

Minimum booking

6 hours

On the Broadwalk, only the first two lines are in play. Inland, the vehicle lines come back. A Friday-and-Saturday venue booking is usually two six-hour nights; a west-side route is a multi-day contract. The South Florida pricing guide works through both.

SAID BEFORE YOU ASK

The beach has limits, and here they are

Three, said before you ask. These are the jobs security guard services in Hollywood are the wrong tool for.

We are not beach patrol

The sand, the water and the public promenade are the city's responsibility, not a private agency's. We work your premises and your doorway. An officer at a beachfront venue controls that venue's access and documents it; they do not police the Broadwalk, and anything happening out there in the moment is 911.

Crowd control at scale is a different contract

A busy Saturday at a bar is a door job. A street festival with road closures, a stage and thousands of people is crowd management with a licensed plan, usually a police detail, and frequently a permit. We will staff inside your footprint; we are not the right agency to run the event.

Anything shorter than a full shift

Six hours is the minimum booking. A two-hour door for a private party does not fit, and a smaller local operator will price it better.

For a venue they are written against the doorway: who gets in and on whose list, what happens when somebody has had enough, how a refusal is worded, when the manager is called and when 911 is, and what gets written down before the end of the shift.

Every officer holds a Florida Class D license for unarmed work or Class G for armed, completes 40 hours of field training, and repeats de-escalation and harassment training annually. On a door, de-escalation is not part of the job. It is the job.

The motto is Safety Before All.

THE FIRST CONVERSATION

Asked at every first meeting

The seven questions that come up about security guard services in Hollywood before anyone talks about a contract.

Do you cover the Broadwalk itself?

We cover premises that open onto it. The promenade is public space and policing it is the city's job, not ours. In practice that means an officer at your door, your terrace and your service entrance, with eyes on the frontage.

Can an officer work a bar at closing?

Yes, and it is one of the most requested shifts in Hollywood. The useful hours are usually the last two before close and the first hour after, which is why a six-hour minimum tends to fit a venue shift naturally rather than awkwardly.

Armed on a public promenade?

Almost never. A Class D unarmed officer is the right call for a venue door, and a visible firearm in a crowded leisure setting changes the atmosphere and the risk. Armed Class G is for cash movement and high-value stock, not for a bar on the beach.

How do you reach a post with no parking?

The officer parks where the public parks and walks in, the same as your staff. It is our problem, not a line on your invoice, and it is part of why the vehicle rate drops off a beachfront booking.

Do you work with the venue's own door staff?

Often. Licensed officers and in-house door staff do different things: ours can detain within the law, write an incident report that stands up, and are licensed and insured through us. Agreeing who does what before the first Friday is the whole trick.

West side rates

Same hourly rates everywhere in Hollywood. What changes is the shape: inland sites usually want a vehicle, and several of them on one route is a multi-day contract at $44.00 an hour rather than separate posts.

How far is Hollywood from your office?

A long way, and this page says so plainly. We dispatch from Homestead, at the bottom of Miami-Dade. For a rostered venue shift agreed in advance that is our cost and not yours. For an unscheduled call-out where minutes decide it, a Broward-based agency will beat us and you should use one.

WHERE THE COUNTIES MEET

Broward either side of Hollywood

The county line runs just south of the city, so this is the overlap where our Miami-Dade and Broward coverage meet. The same officers who run security guard services in Hollywood cover both sides.
