DAVIE, BROWARD COUNTY
Davie security guards start where the driveway ends
Security guard services in Davie protect what sits outside the house. On an acreage property the value is in the barn, the tack room, the trailer and the tractor, spread across land and reached by a long driveway. Almond Tree Security Services covers that ground, armed or unarmed, with a six-hour minimum.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY OUT THERE
What sits outside the house on a Davie acre
Five things, and not one of them is behind the front door.
Davie is about 105,691 people spread over 35.76 square miles, and a large share of that is acreage zoning rather than subdivision. On a property like that, a house alarm covers the smallest part of what you own.
An officer works the gate end of the property. The buildings, the tractor and everything worth taking sit at the far end of the drive.
The barn and the stalls
A barn is a building with a door that latches, not one that locks the way a house does. It is also where the animals are, which means it cannot simply be sealed at night. An officer's job there is presence and a check on a schedule, not a key.
The tack room
Saddles, bridles and bits are the single most portable value on a horse property. One saddle can be worth more than a quad bike, it fits in a car, and it has no serial number anybody checks. Tack rooms are usually the first place a thief goes and the last place a camera is pointed.
The trailer and the tractor
A horse trailer has wheels and a hitch. A tractor has a key that is often left in it, because nobody drives a tractor off the property. Both sit outside, usually in the same spot every night, and both are gone in under a minute if the gate is open.
Feed, and what it brings with it
Feed and supplies are bulky, low value and easy to move, so they are stolen less often than they are used as a reason to be on your land. Somebody loading sacks at the back of a property at dusk has an answer ready. An officer who knows your delivery schedule does not have to accept it.
The gate down at the road
On most Davie acreage the gate is a long way from the house, which is why a gate matters here in a way it does not in a subdivision. Nobody indoors hears it. The whole argument for a physical officer on an acreage property is that somebody is standing where the alarm is not.
THE BOUNDARY NOBODY QUOTES FOR
A hundred and sixty five miles of trail changes your boundary
It means your back fence may not face a road at all.
The Town of Davie's own farm guide puts the equestrian and recreational trail network at over 165 miles, and the town is closing the gaps in it by requiring new developments to include trails as part of their site planning process. That is unusual, and it has a direct consequence for security: a lot of private land in Davie backs onto a public path used by people on foot and on horseback, not onto a street with passing cars and streetlights.
Your back fence may open onto a path, not a street
A road boundary is watched by everyone who drives past it. A trail boundary is watched by nobody after dark. If your property has one, that is the side to walk, and it is the side most quotes never mention because most quotes are written for a house on a street.
A rider at dusk is not an intruder
This is the judgement call that gets an officer in trouble here. People legitimately use those trails at dawn and dusk, often on horseback, often alone, and they are not trespassing. An officer who challenges every rider is a problem for you with your neighbors. An officer who challenges nobody is decoration. The post orders have to draw that line in writing before the first shift, and ours do.
A gate is only the boundary on the road side. On a lot of Davie acreage the other side of the property opens onto a trail.
ACREAGE, HOURS, BOUNDARY

RATES
Pricing an outdoor post by the hour
An unarmed Class D officer is $32.00 an hour and an armed Class G officer is $40.00 an hour, with a six-hour minimum. Security guard services in Davie are priced by the hour, the same as everywhere else we work.
Unarmed officer, Class D
$32.00 / hour
Armed officer, Class G
$40.00 / hour
Vehicle, parked on site
$10.00 / hour
Vehicle, engine running or on patrol
$14.00 / hour
Mobile patrol, multi-day contract
$44.00 / hour, officer and vehicle
Vehicle on a multi-day contract
$8.00 parked, $12.00 on patrol
Minimum booking
6 hours
On land measured in acres the vehicle line usually earns its place, which is not true of every page on this site. Walking a five-acre perimeter takes long enough that a patrol route covers more ground than a standing post, and several properties on the same road are normally cheaper on the multi-day mobile patrol rate than posted separately. The South Florida pricing guide works through both, and mobile patrol explains how a route is built.
Your figure is confirmed in writing before the first shift.
THE OTHER DAVIE
Five campuses and the streets that rent to them
Davie is also a college town, and that is a completely different customer.
Nova Southeastern University, Florida Atlantic University's Davie campus, the University of Florida's Davie campus, Broward College Central and McFatter Technical College are all inside the town. Nova Southeastern alone enrolled 20,877 students; FAU's Davie campus carries more than 5,000 across over 300,000 square feet.
August changes the student blocks
The neighborhoods renting to those campuses empty and refill on an academic calendar, not a twelve-month one. Turnover weeks are when strangers carrying boxes are normal, which is exactly when a landlord with several units wants somebody logging who is on the property.
The plazas along University Drive
Ordinary commercial work, and the bulk of what gets bought in Davie: closing checks, access control, overnight cover for a plaza, and construction site security on the sites still going up around them.
WHERE WE ARE THE WRONG CALL
Three jobs in Davie we turn down
Said before you ask, because finding out later wastes your time.
We do not look after animals
This is the one that matters most here. Our officers are licensed for security, not for livestock. They do not feed, water, turn out, bring in, or assess an animal that looks unwell. If a horse is loose or in distress, the officer calls you and calls whoever you nominate, and that is the whole of it. A barn with animals in it overnight needs a person who knows horses as well as a person who knows security, and they are rarely the same person.
A trail is public, and we do not patrol it
We work your property up to your boundary. The trail network is public space and policing it is the town's business, not a private agency's. An officer watches your side of the fence and logs what they see on the other side of it. Anything happening out there in the moment is 911.
Under six hours we are the wrong call
Six hours is the minimum booking. A two-hour watch while a trailer is loaded does not fit, and a smaller local operator will price it better than we will.
WHO SIGNS IT OFF
What the post orders say for an outdoor shift
Steve Garrison, founder, and Brian Kennedy, Chief Executive Officer, sign off the post orders, and on an outdoor post they have to be more specific than usual, because there is no reception desk and no single door to stand at.

Which buildings get checked and in what order. Whether the tack room is locked and who holds the key. What time the last person leaves and what should be shut by then. How a rider or a walker on the boundary is spoken to. What gets written down. When you get a phone call, and when the answer is 911 instead.
Every officer holds a Florida Class D license for unarmed work or Class G for armed, completes 40 hours of field training, and repeats de-escalation and harassment training annually.
The motto is Safety Before All.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
What a Davie landowner asks before booking
The six questions that come up on nearly every acreage call.
Can an officer be alone on twenty acres?
Alone, yes; everywhere at once, no. One officer holds a point or walks a route, and on a large parcel that means agreeing in advance which points matter and in what order. If a company quotes one officer for a whole property without asking you that, ask them where exactly the officer will be standing at 2am.
Do you work around horses?
We work on properties with horses on them. We do not handle the horses. Our officers are briefed not to enter stalls, not to feed, and not to move an animal, and to call you rather than improvise. That is a real limit and it is better stated now than at 3am.
Is an armed officer right for a barn?
Usually not. Class D unarmed covers presence, access control and logging, which is the entire job on most acreage. Armed Class G makes sense where cash or high-value product moves on a schedule. We will tell you which one your property is rather than default to the higher rate.
What happens if somebody is on the trail at 2am?
The officer logs it with a time and a description and keeps watching the boundary. They do not go onto the trail to confront someone, because that is public land and it is not your property. If what they see warrants it, they call 911 and then they call you.
Does a nursery need the same cover as a barn?
No. A nursery's loss is usually plant stock, equipment and irrigation line, and the risk window is a vehicle reversing up to a fence rather than someone walking in. It is closer to the work on our agriculture security page than to a horse property, and the post orders are written differently.
The drive north, and who pays for it
We dispatch from Homestead, at the bottom of Miami-Dade, which puts Davie a long way up the road. For a rostered shift agreed in advance that distance is our problem and it does not appear on your invoice. For an unscheduled call-out where minutes decide the outcome, a Broward-based agency will get there first and you should use one. We would rather say that than lose your trust on the one night it matters.
